Only two more sessions for the live practitioner’s guide course from being finished. Attendees are getting a sneak peak into the second edition topics before the book is in print.

In March, the online X-Ways Forensics Practitioner’s Guide course will be available, and will include a print copy of the second edition of the X-Ways Forensics Practitioner’s Guide book in the registration.

Some of the cool swag with the course (other than the second edition book!) are downloads of QuickStart guides, Brett’s interpretation of the XWF manual’s descriptions of the 3-stage checkboxes that you can put into your X-Ways tooltips, an XWF cheats guide, downloads of court cases where XWF has been referenced in affidavits and reports, and more!

The final chapter reviews are being done right now to catch all grammar errors and make sure the book is up to date with the current version 20.4 (with mentions of of 20.5 preview).

The second edition comes with substantial changes in XWF as some features are gone, others replaced, and some options newly added.

There is not a better reference in using X-Ways Forensics. Any training is best to have, but for a reference guide, this is it!

PRE ORDERS

The guide will be open to pre-ordering in the coming week or two. As the book is print ondemand by Amazon, the earlier that it is ordered, the sooner that it arrives.

LAST CALL!

One of the new things that is in the second edition is XWF user contributions. There are a few contributions sent to me that I have added to the book. If you are an XWF user and have ‘your own way’ of doing things, it can be in the book as an example of how one user (you!) uses XWF.

Your benefit to send in an XWF process that you use

You get a peer-reviewed and published writing in your use of X-Ways Forensics that you can use in your resume, CV, job applications, promotional interviews, reports, affidavits, and court expertise qualification.

As far credit is concerned, send in exactly how you’d like to be credited with your submission. Something like:

Name, organization, social media URLS

Or even, “Anon XWF User”

If your submission is accepted for printing, you will have full right to claim that a process in XWF that you use or that you created/modified in using XWF has been professionally peer-reviewed as a valid process and printed in the only published guidebook of X-Ways Forensics.

Guidelines

In MS Word, no more than 2 pages. Pick a process and write it up. If someone else already submitted the same thing, but the processes are different enough, both will be printed. If too similar, only one will be printed.

Screenshots (in color!) are great.

Simple is fine. Complex is fine. One page is fine. Half a page is fine. Maybe you figured out this process yourself or someone showed you. Maybe you think everyone does this process the same? None of that matters because you’ll never know unless you send it in.

This book is practically a requirement to go with every X-Ways Forensic dongle.
